SHOW Executive Director Receives Paul Harris Fellowship
On April 12th our Executive Director, Gael Gilbert, was presented with the Paul Harris Fellowship. This honour was bestowed upon Gael by the Rotary Club of Waterloo at the Waterloo Mayor’s Breakfast.
The Paul Harris Fellowship is awarded to Rotarians who portray the motto of “Service Above Self” and focus on making a difference in one’s community, and in the lives of less fortunate people around the world.
Gael was recognized for dedicating herself to the social services sector for all of her working life, as well as most of her personal time. She has developed many services and programs to improve the lives of marginalized Canadians.
As noted by the Rotary Club of Waterloo during the award presentation, our community has benefitted greatly since Gael has become the Executive Director of Supportive Housing of Waterloo and made her home in our region. Gael also works closely with all levels of government, the police and fire services, and has been recognized internationally for the Hoarding Project which she developed to help those in need.
Currently Gael, along with SHOW Board Chair Mike Schmitt, is leading the capital campaign to increase the number of housing unites for homeless and needy adults in our city.
