A Message of Thanks from SHOW’s Executive Director Gael Gilbert
I would like to start this new letter of this new year by saying thank you, to you. You are the reason why 24 seniors are still very happily living in affordable housing at 144 Erb Street East, all of whom are benefitting from the supports we can now provide through our on-site Health Resources Coordinator, Fiona.
You are the reason why we could provide additional supports to tenants throughout 2020, including community dinners led by amazing volunteers and staff, you are the reason why we can provide furnished and equipped apartments to our tenants at 362 and 402 Erb Street West.
Thank you for helping make Christmas so bright for our tenants, gifts, food, good wishes, our tenants received an abundance of goodness. SHOW is very blessed to have such amazing support from our community, we wish you a year of good health, togetherness and joy.
I would also like to take a moment to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Friends of SHOW, a lovely group of people from Elevation Church, who have, for the past 10 years, provided a monthly dinner and community for our SHOW tenants. Though COVID may have stopped the dinners, Helen Kroeker and the gang outdid themselves with goodies, gifts and treats for every tenant, and I know how joyfully our tenants received these gifts from a group who have gone far and beyond to keep SHOW tenants in their hearts.
Waterloo Pentecostal Church, through the wonderful support of Rick and Della Stroosbaescher, and our amazing friends at Highview Community Church made SHOW their Christmas ‘favourite’, helping us support our tenants and our new building. Many other churches and faith groups also gifted SHOW with remarkable generosity for which we are very grateful.
Conestoga College Hospitality and Culinary Program under the leadership of Keith Mueller has been an amazing support to our food security program by donating cases of fresh food to SHOW as lockdowns have happened. The gift of fresh fruit and vegetables, breads, and Christmas goodies, baked by all the students, made the holidays at SHOW truly spectacular (and delicious)!
With you by our sides, there is so much to look forward to in 2021. COVID has taught us some hard lessons about health and safety, but it has also taught us about how remarkable a staff crew SHOW has, working diligently to reduce the isolation so many of our tenants’ experience, particularly over the holiday season.
Gratitude does not begin to express the depth of our appreciation for you care and support of our tenants and SHOW.
