Gael’s Message

On December 12th I will celebrate my 10th anniversary at SHOW. As the first full-time staff person employed, I was given the often daunting responsibility of building an agency from the ground up. Hiring staff, developing policies, and engaging with other community organizations. All of this was a labour of love and after 10 years SHOW has an amazing team of full-time staff, an equally wonderful Board of Directors, and it is to them that I owe a huge debt of gratitude. It is time to pass on the reigns of this mighty little agency, now 3 buildings strong. It is time for the next generation of leaders to work, learn and grow with the SHOW organization and with you our loyal supporters.

My career has spanned almost 5 incredible decades.  I have worked with some remarkable people who have inspired and taught me, and I hope I have been able to do the same for others over the years. Providing permanent housing for people who could only dream of one day having a key to their own doors was awe-inspiring and an absolute privilege to be a part of. Providing the opportunity for individuals to make positive changes in their life has repeatedly humbled me throughout the years.

A few short paragraphs cannot do justice to the multitude of memories, remarkable people, or heart-stopping moments I had the privilege to experience and all of that was made possible through the support and encouragement of individuals like you in the community that believed in the same thing – that housing is a fundamental right that everyone deserves. I am so proud of the work that SHOW does and that it will continue to do and I look forward to now being behind the scenes cheering on our housing champions. Thank you for allowing me the honor and privilege of serving SHOW and our community for the past 10 years…it has been a gift.

With a heart full of gratitude,
