Tributes to Michael Savage: Founding Board Member of SHOW
Remembering One of Our Founding Board Members
Written by Gael Gilbert
There are people who leave an indelible mark on their communities and Mike Savage was a man who left his mark. A kind, gentle man who dedicated his life to the betterment of this community, in ways more numerous that I can count.
Mike was a founding member of SHOW, he worked diligently to ensure the vision of housing our most vulnerable was turned into brick and mortar, support systems, and community. His dedication to those who are marginalized in our community was legendary, Mike was often the voice of the poor, the disenfranchised, and the homeless.
His community work is well known but there was much more to this remarkable man. He was a great friend, a loyal member of his church, a devoted father and an adoring husband and best friend to Cathie for over 45 years.
Mike leaves a hole in our community, not only for his family but for us all, reminding us never to forget those who can’t speak for themselves and that everyone deserves a voice. All of us at SHOW will miss you Mike, and will be forever grateful that you shared your light with us.
If you’d like to continue Mike’s Legacy of giving voice to marginalized members of our community, please consider making a gift in his memory. Thank you to all of those who have already made a gift, your generosity has been noticed.
