Summer Students Have Arrived!!!

This summer SHOW is lucky to welcome 2 students from Conestoga College’s Bachelor of Community & Criminal Justice program into the SHOW family. Ema and Andrea will be organizing various programs and activities for tenants across all 3 of our buildings. They will be focusing on life-skills programming as well as some super fun games and crafts. So far the tenants have enjoyed a game of jeopardy, weekly BINGO games, and a homemade ice-cream sandwich party all socially distanced of course!! Our tenants have missed out on a lot this past year due to Covid-19 and having Andrea and Ema on-site will help us engage our tenants in programming and activities again.

Ema and Andrea’s Thoughts!

Hi there, Ema and Andrea here! We’ve just started our Summer co-op term at SHOW and are so excited to be here!! Being able to engage and connect with tenants while they share their personal histories with us has been both rewarding and humbling.  Being able to provide activities and events to the tenants has been an amazing experience so far. All of the tenants, from all three buildings have been so welcoming and kind to us. Our supervisors, Nicole and Leigh-Ann have also been amazing in providing us guidance, helping us reach our goals, and promoting our personal development.

To us working at Supportive Housing of Waterloo has felt like the joining of a community and we’re proud to be involved in an organization that fosters inclusivity and supports the needs of marginalized members of our community. Thank you to everyone at SHOW for making us feel so welcome
