What SHOW Tenants are GRATEFUL For

Isaac has lived at SHOW, since 2010. Isaac is originally from Ajax, so coming to Waterloo Region was a hard adjustment. The staff at SHOW and outside supports really helped Isaac settle into the area. Isaac really likes the security SHOW offers and that there are supports to rely on, like the social worker who visits him every week. He also appreciates the help of cleaning supplies, sanitary products, and food provided by SHOW. Throughout the pandemic, Isaac has been very thankful that the staff are informative and good at reminding him about wearing a mask. He is also grateful that the vaccine was available right at the buildings, so he did not have to worry about trying to find a place to get it.

Adrian has been living at SHOW, for almost 3 years. He really likes the friendly people, nice area, good staff, free Wi-Fi, and the fun activities that are held. Some of Adrian’s favourite activities at SHOW are bingo, winter sleigh-rides, and basketball. Although the pandemic has made it hard to participate in many activities, Adrian finds comfort in being able to socialize with the staff and students. The supports provided by SHOW have helped to foster Adrian’s independence and have encouraged him to participate in activities like Karate. Adrian describes the staff as honest and caring people who are there for him whenever he is in need.

Barry came to live at SHOW almost 2 years ago. Since being housed at SHOW, the supports offered 24/7 have helped him learn how to manage his temper and emotions and take control of his hoarding tendencies. For Barry, SHOW means an affordable place to call home where he no longer has to live on the streets, he no longer has to go hungry, he can shower and wear clean clothes. For Barry, the food pantry, good people and nice staff that are easy to get along with are what he genuinely appreciates the most about SHOW.
