Supportive Housing of Waterloo Surpasses $1,000,000 Capital Campaign Goal

WATERLOO, ON – September 15, 2022 —Supportive Housing of Waterloo (SHOW) announced today that they have surpassed their Capital Campaign goal of $1,000,000.00. The SHOW The Way Home Campaign began in 2020 after purchasing the Civitan Apartment Complex, located at 144 Erb Street East in Waterloo.

The Civitan is home to 24 vulnerable seniors. SHOW wanted to not only keep these seniors housed with deeply affordable rents, but to also provide on-site supports and programming, ensuring residents remain housed.

New SHOW resident John had this to say; “SHOW matters very much to me because it fills a tremendous need. People like me need a place to stay, a quality place, and a safe place. I am now totally at ease. I have no housing worries. I have the total opposite – I have housing fulfillment.”

The success of the SHOW The Way Home Campaign is due to the overwhelming support from community members in the Waterloo Region. This support has paved the way for essential improvements to be completed, including:

  • Implementing important life safety building upgrades
  • Transforming an unused board room into a new studio apartment
  • Hiring a case manager to assist residents with a wide range of on-site supports

Words cannot express the gratitude and sense of pride that SHOW staff are feeling.

“It is a wonderful feeling to know that we belong to such a caring, compassionate and empathetic community,” says Brian Paul, SHOW’s Executive Director. “The response to our SHOW The Way Home Campaign has been truly overwhelming. It goes to show that when a community rallies behind a project, great things can happen. This could not have happened without your support.  Thank you to all those who donated to the campaign.”
