SHOW offers supports and programming at no extra cost to residents.

In keeping with our philosophy, support services will be provided in a manner that is mutually decided upon by you and your Support Coordinator / Program Manager. The type and amount of services may vary from time to time based upon your need and preference, and availability of staff resources.

It is assumed however, that if someone needs to reside at SHOW, they will have need of supports including ongoing counseling which is arranged prior to residence. Once a tenant moves into SHOW, he/she will develop a support plan with staff and the tenant is expected to adhere to the support plan. Refusal to do so may result in eviction.

What Does SHOW Provide?

Income Supports

SHOW staff are committed to ensuring that our tenants receive the benefits that they are entitled to. SHOW staff will support SHOW tenants in applying for relevant income supports. Voluntary trusteeship is offered to those tenants who would appreciate assistance with managing their funds to enhance stability.

Foodbank / Community Pantry

An emergency food pantry is available to all tenants.

Transportation

We are located on Erb St on a main transit route so tenants can easily access other parts of this community.

Staff Support

This requires exploring support needs and desires and assistance with personal goal planning. Staff will provide emotional support and help with problem solving.

Service Coordination

This involves helping people to access resources which they may need including such services as specialized health care, income support, harm reduction support and/or recreational opportunities. SHOW arranges for any of the following support services on an individual basis: medication management, assistance with personal hygiene, house- keeping, food preparation and nutritional consulting, transportation, and budgeting.

Crisis Support

This is available 24 hours a day/ 7 days per week either by phone or in person. Assistance is provided to help resolve personal distress, develop crisis management and coping skills as well as help to access follow up services.

Counselling: Both individual and group based counselling is available to SHOW tenants. There is an addiction therapist that leads an open addiction support group. Additionally SHOW provides individual counselling to tenants that desire it.

Spiritual Support

We have a close network of spiritual supporters, individuals who can assist someone who may be facing health or emotional challenges. Residents can access supports from either a Rabbi, Priest, Chaplain, or Minister. We can also assist if other spiritual services are needed or wanted by residents.
